Survival Project
Survival
Collection One
Group Project
For this project students will need to first gather a group of no more than five people. An individual may do project, but the workload will remain the same. Students choosing to do the project on their own must inform the instructor before beginning.
Each group must select a leader. Leader must understand that should they accept responsibility they alone will be responsible for the finished project. This means that should someone in your group fail to do their part the leader must still find a way to get the project finished.
Survival Project
This project will require research, putting together a portfolio that will be graded periodically throughout the project, putting together a power point, and making a 10 to 15 minute presentation.
Scenario
You and a group 50 friends are fed up with the world you live and have decided to find a place to make a new life for your self somewhere. Each of you has varying amounts of money to contribute to the project. (Your team must develop a way to randomly assign and to determine the amount of money you will have to use by determining how much each person will contribute.) NO person in the group has more than $12,000.00 to contribute. You and your friends are going to pull your resources and start out new. Once you leave you can never return. You must with your resources plan so you can survive.
Funding and Personnel
Devise a plan to assign a truly random amount of contribution to each member of your contingent. Each member should contribute something to the group. In a paragraph, no more than three discuss the types of people you have aligned yourselves with in order to accomplish your goal. In a spreadsheet record and present the results. If you can devise a manner that is completely legal and legitimate you can add to your financial bank but it must be defendable and justified. For everything you come up with you must at least demonstrate the propensity for the success and the amount of money you claim.
Personnel Assignment – each person must be assigned a task or taken along for a reason. You must justify each person, why them, what they are expected to do, and how they will contribute to the project. You must include yourselves in the personnel.
Funding – you must develop a plan for randomly assigning contributions from each of the people going. Any other funding must be researched, documented, and a reference in the reference section APA style must be provided. You must show your math in any funding.
Geography
Next you must do some research to find a place to create your new society. Create a comparative list that shows: pluses, minuses, difficulties to overcome, difficulties, which cannot be overcome. This portion only concerns about the place where you will go. The place you live must be feasible or theoretical, but in either case you must provide climatic problems, the preparations must be thorough. You must justify and demonstrate at least the propensity for the success of this place.
Questions to consider:
What will we live in?
How will climate or environment affect our plans/
How will we over come the obstacles provided by the environment?
What is the environmental profile of this area?
Are there natives we must contend with?
How will we contend with the natives/
Develop a plan
Now you must get there, purchase what you will need, make arrangements as to what you will do and how you will survive.
* Be sure to discuss how you will overcome obstacles.
· Create a web of ideas and things to be considered. This will be presented in a power point to the class for scrutiny.
· Create a budget for a year including all money and specifically how it will be spent
· How will you get to your place
· How will you live, where, etc..
· All things financial need to be accounted for.
Government
You must develop a government and a document that you will be governed under.
Obstacles
You must anticipate any obstacles that might occur and plan for them. Should a classmate or myself stump you or find a problem you do not have contingency for , you will automatically loose 20 points from your final grade. Questions that you do not have answers for will cost you 10 points for each question you do not have an answer for from final grade.
